Mosaic Extravaganza Workshop Participant Showcase - Kitty's Art

Teaching this workshop was a labor of joy for me because it gave me an opportunity to create my own original design and assist my workshop participants to do the same.

Our goal was to 'cut loose' and scatter some color and shape in whatever theme or illusion we could dream up. In a project that had no boundaries, we were free to find and free the designer in each of us. How fun is that?

Now, let's explore the work of one of the participants' whose love of design and readiness to be challenged resulted in a superb piece of fabric art.

Thank you, Kitty, for giving us this interview.

1. Have your artistic skills improved from the project exercise at this workshop?
Yes it definitely did improve my skill. It loosened me up. I think I need to do it another few times.

2. Was the workshop better, worse, or about what you expected?
Kitty's Mosaic Extravaganza Artwork
It was better than I expected. 😀 I was thinking of a mosaic made up of orderly rows of squares. But in the end I see how it has helped me move farther out of my box. The project is designed to push you out of your comfort zone and it does push.

3. How useful did you find the information presented at the event?
I found it useful. I read the papers and watched the videos. As I worked, I was able to think about the advice Lynda gave. Plus you can refer back to the information. You can ask questions to get more clarification.

4. Do you feel that the workshop delivered on its goal to help you find and utilize the 'designer' in you?
Yes it helped me understand more about balance and contrasting colors.

5. On a scale of 1-10, how skilled and prepared was the presenter?
(9) I think Lynda is so talented and she is ready with her videos. Her videos are not so long that she is just going over the same information. She brings out the key points.

6. Would you consider taking another workshop with this presenter?

Yes, I am already signed up for the next workshop. I really like the format that allows me to work at home and have a long timeline. I don’t have the pressure of a short deadline then go home and finish the project on my own.
